Pat Hauck

The youngest of 12 children, Pat grew up on a dairy farm and graduated22 from RLHS in 1972. He is one of the most dominant drivers in the history of snowmobile racing. During a remarkable racing career that began in 1974 and continued for nearly four decades, Pat established a winning record that is among the most successful in the history of the sport. For over 38 years, Hauck and Yamaha have performed in ice racing to grass drags and everything in-between. He is a Yamaha Factory Team racer and holds 9 NSSR World Records, was named ISR Driver of the Year, has been a continuous top ten racer, and Pro Stock Hi-Points Champion. He has established a winning record that is among the most successful in the history of the sport. Hauck is synonymous with victory and Yamaha snowmobiles bearing his signature number 22, having won Stock and Mod Stock classes at the most prestigious straightline events in North America. Hauck notched his first premier victory in 1983 at the ISR World Series of Ice Drags, an event at which he would claim at least one victory for 16 consecutive years, plus seven high-point titles in Mod Stock, and more than 40 class wins. On grass, there were few who matched his longevity and win record. At Hay Days he was a five-time Manufacturers Cup winner, a winner of the Minnesota Cup in 1988 and 2001, and claimed more than 50 individual class wins while winning at least one class for 23 consecutive years. A professional tuner whose seat-of-the pants understanding of clutching and suspension was the result of untold hours of testing in all conditions. Hauck achieved success at every venue and association. He was a three-time winner of the Wausau Cup in SWDRA, a circuit in which he claimed multiple high-point championships. He won titles in NSRA, was victorious at the Woody’s Stock Challenge at the World Series of Ice in 1995, and claimed the 1998 Wisconsin Governor’s Cup. His career also included success in speed run competition, including multiple NSSR World Speed Records. His engine and clutching expertise helped propel Yamaha’s factory snocross and cross-country efforts beginning in the late 1990’s. Also known as “The Ice-Man”, Pat holds the world record 4-stroke 1000 foot radar run with speeds in excess of 150 mph. Pat has owned and operated a successful Yamaha performance business since 1991, and has been a Yamaha dealer for 22 years. In 1996 he purchased a 20 acre site on the western edge of Rice Lake known as Hauck Power Sports where he is able to test sleds on a grass drag track, snow cross jumps and a ¼ mile asphalt strip. He also designs and manufactures snowmobile parts that are shipped all over the world. In addition to snowmobiles, Pat has also raced motorcycles, ATV’s, and race cars. He was also instrumental in the success enjoyed by his brother Jerry, including building the sled that Jerry raced to an NHRA Asphalt title in 1995. On February 18, 2017, Hauck was inducted into the National Snowmobile Hall of Fame. Amazingly, Hauck amassed more than 1,000 wins in his career. He and his wife live in the Rice Lake area.
