Katie (Hanson) Novak

2025

Katie graduated from Rice Lake High School in 2005. She was the Warriors most dominant fastpitch pitcher to date. She won 53 games for the Warriors as a sophomore through senior. In 2005, she was 22-2 with an ERA of 0.73 and 144 K's and her 2004 record was 22-4 with an ERA of 1.27 and 109 K’s. As a junior, Katie pitched a shutout against Monroe in a 4 to 0 Rice Lake win in the 2004 State Championship game. She batted .524 with 3 HR's and 26 RBI's as a senior and batted .578 as a junior. She was All-Big Rivers in both her junior and senior years and 2nd team as a sophomore. With Katie, the warriors won the BRC championship in 2005. The Wisconsin Fastpitch Coaches Association selected Katie to participate in their All-Star Series in 2005 and voted her 2nd Team All State and Academic All State in 2004. She was also a two year letter winner for the Warrior basketball team. Katie graduated from Winona State University with a BA in nursing, and played fastpitch for two years, batting .375 and .311 in 2006 and 2007 respectively. She went on to earn her Masters degree as a nurse practitioner from Concordia University. Katie was assistant head softball coach for RLHS from 2010-2012, when the warriors claimed the 2010 WIAA D2 silver ball. Katie currently resides in Rice Lake with her husband Jessie and is employed at Mayo Clinic.
