Foster Friess

Foster graduated from RLHS in 1958 where he was both a sports standout and a scholar. He was Valedictorian of his class as well as a star in basketball and track. In basketball as a center he scored a career 813 points and helped lead the Warriors to their first conference championship in a decade. In track, Friess went to state in both his junior and senior years. His time of 14.8 in high hurdles still stands as a school record. He attended UW-Madison, obtaining a degree in business administration and serving as president of his fraternity. He was selected as one of the Ten Most Outstanding Senior Men. Foster studied international finance at the University of Oslo and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst Designation. His firm’s flagship Brandywine Fund has appeared on Money magazine’s list of the world’s best mutual funds every year since the magazine began their ratings. He established the Lynn and Foster Friess Family Foundation in 1992 of which their $100 million grant-making foundation focuses on small, entrepreneurial, faith-based charities in urban environments.
