Ed Olund

While Ed was a student at RLHS, he lettered in football and baseball. In football he played on both the offensive and defensive lines, while in baseball he was an outfielder. After graduating in 1955, he attended UW-River Falls where he excelled as an offensive and defensive tackler, lettering all four years. The 1958 UW-River Falls Falcon football team won the conference championship. From 1960 to 1965 Ed taught high school biology at Plum City, Wisconsin where he was also the head football and baseball coach. He came to Rice Lake in 1965 as a biology teacher and was the assistant varsity football coach from 1965 to 1974. From 1975 to 1985 Ed was an assistant football coach for the Warriors, with those teams winning 8 conference championships, one State Champion title and two second place finishes at State. Ed was the defensive coordinator on all of Will Ferris’s championship teams. During the 1983 football season when Ed served as the head coach, the Warriors won the conference championship with a 10-0 record.
