Dan graduated from Rice Lake High School in 2007 following an exceptional career marked by athletic excellence and academic achievement.

An accomplished multi-sport athlete: a three-year standout in basketball, lettering four times in golf, and playing football his senior year. Academically, Dan graduated as the valedictorian of his class with a perfect 4.0 GPA before attending UW–Superior on academic scholarships.

Dan’s greatest athletic success came on the basketball court, where he captained the Warriors to back-to-back Big Rivers Conference championships. During the 2006–07 season, Rice Lake spent much of the year ranked No. 1 in Wisconsin Division II and finished with one of the most dominant seasons in program history, posting a 22–2 overall record and an 11–1 conference mark.

Coming in at 6’1”, Dan scored 1,039 career points, including an average of 20.4 points per game during his senior year. At the time, his career total ranked second in Rice Lake history behind Tom Hugdahl’s 1,090 points scored from 1955–58, though both records have since been surpassed. Throughout his high school career, Dan earned numerous honors, including First Team All-Big Rivers Conference recognition both his junior and senior seasons. He was also named All-Northwest Player of the Year, Big Rivers Conference Player of the Year, and WBCA Division II All-State.

Following a successful career at Rice Lake, Dan continued his basketball journey at UW-Superior, where he became a standout member of the Yellowjackets men’s basketball program. A four-year starter, he graduated in 2011 and left a lasting impact on the program. During his career, he set school records for career three-pointers made (a record that still stands) and career steals, which remained intact until 2025. He currently ranks ninth in school history with 1,311 career points.

After completing his basketball career, Dan attended medical school at the University of Louisville, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree with a specialization in Emergency Medicine. Today, he lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where he practices medicine and enjoys life with his wife and two children.
